We identify suspected public health pests like ticks, bed bugs and yellowjackets. We currently do not offer public disease testing for these insects. If you are feeling ill or are concerned about getting sick from an insect or bite, please contact your healthcare provider or call 911.

Complete the below form and upload a photo of the insect to have it identified by our entomologist.

Please note that a photo is often not enough to make a positive insect identification. We will resume insect identification of samples when we can reopen our lobby to the public.

When you capture an insect for identification, we suggest you safely put it in a plastic container then freeze it overnight to safely kill it before delivering it to the District. Insects smashed or sprayed with an insecticide can make them unable to identify.
