The Placer Mosquito and Vector Control District has confirmed the first mosquito sample to test positive for West Nile virus in 2020. The mosquitoes were collected in a mosquito trap in western Placer County near Baseline and Pleasant Grove Roads.
First Invasive Mosquito Detected In Placer County
The Placer Mosquito and Vector Control District detected an invasive (non-native) species of mosquito on Wednesday, August 28. The Aedes aegypti, commonly known as the yellow fever mosquito, was found in a residential south Placer County neighborhood east of Auburn Boulevard at Interstate 80.
