Placer Mosquito and Vector Control District will be increasing adult mosquito control operations over the next 72 hours.

ROSEVILLE, CA – West Nile Virus positive mosquito samples and high mosquito population numbers continue to be reported today across western Placer County.

To minimize the threat of transmission of West Nile Virus and to manage populations of mosquitoes, the Placer Mosquito and Vector Control District will be conducting aerial adulticide treatments over agricultural areas, and truckbased adulticide treatments in and around populated areas. All control operations are subject to favorable weather conditions.

The following areas have mosquito control operations scheduled over the next 72 hours:

Agricultural Areas along Western Placer County Border
Aerial adult mosquito treatments will take place over agricultural and openspace areas from Friday September 11, 2009 through Sunday September 13, 2009 from 8:00pm until approximately 9:30pm each day, weather permitting.
Affected areas will be Baseline Rd north to the Bear River between the Sutter County line and Dowd Rd. Aircraft will be applying Trumpet® EC as an ultra low volume fog to target adult mosquitoes as they are flying.

Watt Ave Area
Truck-based adult mosquito treatments will take place in and around the community of Elverta early morning Saturday September 12, 2009 from 12:00am until approximately 3:00am, weather permitting.
Affected areas will be along Watt Ave. between Baseline Rd. and PFE Rd. Trucks will be applying Pyrocide® 7396 (pyrethrin + PBO) by ultra low volume fog to target adult mosquitoes as they are flying.

Amoruso Way Area
Truck-based adult mosquito treatments will take place in and around the community of Elverta early morning Saturday September 12, 2009 from 12:00pm until approximately 3:00am, weather permitting.
Affected areas will be along Amoruso Way and side streets north of Sunset Blvd West. Trucks will be applying Pyrocide® 7396 (pyrethrin + PBO) by ultra low volume fog to target adult mosquitoes as they are flying.
