Placer Mosquito and Vector Control District will be increasing adult mosquito control operations over the next 72 hours.
ROSEVILLE, CA – Ten new West Nile Virus positive mosquito samples were reported today across western Placer County. Areas most affected are: North Lincoln, Sheridan, Western Roseville along Dry Creek, and the agricultural areas along the Placer-Sutter County border.
These test results have prompted an increase in the West Nile Virus Threat Level from “Normal Season” to “Emergency Planning” according to the California State Department of Public Heath’s Mosquito and Vector-borne Disease Management Plan.
To minimize the threat of transmission of West Nile Virus from infected adult mosquitoes to people, the Placer Mosquito and Vector Control District will be conducting a aerial adulticide treatments to agricultural areas of western Placer County, and truck-based adulticide treatments in and around populated areas.
Northern Lincoln
Truck Based adult mosquito treatments will take place early tomorrow morning, Friday August 21, 2009 between 12:00am and 2:00am weather permitting.
Areas affected will be: west from Joiner Parkway to Waverly Dr. /Teal Hollow between 1st Street and Nicolaus Rd, and East of Joiner Parkway to P Street, between Shellback Dr. and 7th Street.
Sheridan
Truck Based adult mosquito treatments will take place early tomorrow morning, Friday August 21, 2009 between 12:00am and 2:00am weather permitting.
Areas affected will be the town of Sheridan north to Goethe Rd along Camp Far West Rd.
Western Roseville/Dry Creek
Truck Based adult mosquito treatments will take place early tomorrow morning, Friday August 21, 2009 between 12:00am and 2:00am weather permitting.
Areas affected will be: north of PFE Road to Vineyard Road between Cook Riolo Road and Walerga Road, the development west of Walerga just north of Dry Creek, and Roseville Cemetery on Watt Ave near the county line.
Agricultural Areas along Western Placer County Border
Aerial adult mosquito treatments will take place over agricultural and open-space areas on Friday August 21, 2009 and Saturday August 22, 2009 from 8:00pm until approximately 9:30pm weather permitting.
Affected areas will be Baseline Rd north to the Bear River between the Sutter County line and Dowd Rd.
Trucks and aircraft will be applying Pyrenone® 25-5 (pyrethrin + PBO) by ultra low volume fog to target adult mosquitoes as they are flying.
